Community Reporter-March 31, 2010 December 18, 2010-Blue Devils too much for the Dawgs; Dawgs Scare Lions; Dawgs beat Golden Eagles The third match of the day for the Dawgs was with their Liberty Division foe, the Berkely Golden Eagles. The lower weights were strong as Shay Addison recorded a pin and Jamie Laughinghouse recorded a victory. The middle weights kept it close, as Dylan Avino and Cole Bisaccia recorded pins and Mitchell Lauria recorded a victory. The heavy weights brought it home, highlighted by Theo addison's first pin of the year. The Dawgs put it away 54-47 to remain tied for first in B Division-Liberty. The younger Dawgs also got to strut their stuff as the 6th grade and under crew had matches with Red Bank on December 13th and with Long Branch on December 22nd. The extra practice is clearly evident, as Coach Jordan and I have seen the boys use many of the moves they are learning in practice. The future of RFH wrestling is certainly bright. This is a very talented group and they are all working hard. December 12, 2010-Dawgs Clip Gull's Wings; Shock Mat Rats We had four wrestlers attend the Wall Holiday Tournament today to test their mettle against the best in the Jersey Shore area. All of the Jersey Shore squads were in attendance as well as powerhouse teams from outside the area such as SEPA (Southeast Pennsylvania Wrestling). The tournament format was an 8 man single elimination style. The Dawgs showed the Jersey Shore that we are ready to compete with the big guys, as we walked away with our share of the hardware with 2 second place finishes and a third place. Marcus Iwama took 2nd Place in the 13-14 (Intermediate) age group 121 Lb weight class. Liam Horan took 2nd Place in the 9-10 (Midget) age group 75 Lb. weight class. Dylan Avino took 3rd Place in the 9-10 (Midget) age group 100 Lb. weight class. Alex Maldjian lost a heartbreaker to a tough Toms River wrestler, but gained valuable experience in the process. The RFH Jr. Bulldog Wrestlers Jersey Shore Team suffered their first setback of the season on Saturday December 18. The Dawgs dropped one to the Shore Blue Devils and then threw a scare into the Lacey Lions as the match came down to the final bout. The Dawgs then took care of the Berkely Golden Eagles as they brought their record to 5-2 overall on the season, 3-0 in B Division-Liberty, and remain tied for first place in the JSJWL, B Division-Liberty with Stafford and Colts Neck.
The Dawgs opened up against the the Shore Blue Devils. The strength of the Blue Devil lower weights was tough to overcome. The Dawg middle weights wrestled nicely, as Luc Cogger, Mitchell Lauria and Mike Munger recorded pins and Coleman Gould and Cole Bisaccia recorded wins. The heavy weights held their own as Marcus Iwama and Tucker Briggs recorded pins and Jordan Bryan recorded a Major Decision. However, the Blue Devils came away with the win 66-40 handing the Dawgs their first loss of the season.
The second match with the Lacey Lions was a heartstopper. In the lower weights, Jack Nolan recorded a pin and Shay Addison recorded a thrilling 14-11 win. In the middle weights, Cole Bisaccia continues to improve every week as he recorded a 7-1 win. The heavy weights benefitted from a few Lacey forfeits, but it wasn't enough to make up the difference, as the Dawgs fell to the Lions 54-48.
The Dawgs have a 2 week break before they travel to Shore Saturday (1/8) to tangle with Stafford and Barnegat. The Stafford match is a key B Division-Liberty contest as both teams are tied for first place. We encourage everyone to come by and cheer on the Dawgs. Wrestling starts at 9 AM.
The RFH Jr. Bulldog Wrestlers Jersey Shore Team continued their winnning ways by posting two victories in front of the home crowd on Saturday December 11. With these wins, the Dawgs brought their record to 4-0 on the season and remain tied for first place in the JSJWL, B Division, Liberty Conference.
The Dawgs opened up against the the Point Pleasant Beach Garnet Gulls with a 69-36 win. In the lower weights (72 Lbs and under) little Johnny Swain began the onslaught at 52 Lbs by recording a thrilling 6-5 come from behind victory. Shay Addison took Johnny's lead and followed him with an impressive pin in the 56 Lb weight class. The other pups followed suit highlighted by Jamie Laughinghouse pinning his opponent at 72 Lbs. Our Middle Weights (76 Lbs-107 Lbs) joined in the fun as Chris Albert pinned his opponent for his first victory of the season and Luc Cogger decided he would follow suit with a pin of his own. The big guys (114 Lbs-180 Lbs) joined in the fun as Marcus Iwama and Tucker Briggs recorded pins and the Dawgs had their third win of the season.

Dawgs show their stuff at Wall Holiday Tournament
The RFH High School football team was not the only RFH athletic team to make some noise on Saturday Dec. 4th. Our own Jr. Bulldogs Grapplers Jersey Shore Team opened the 2010-11 season against the Holmdel Hawks and the BYAA 2 (Middletown) Gators with a pair of victories. We compete in the Jersey Shore Junior Wrestling League (JSJWL) B Division, Liberty Conference. There are eight teams in the Liberty Conference and the Top 4 teams at the end of the season will make the playoffs. The Dawgs came out on Saturday and sent a strong message to the rest of the Liberty Conference teams that we intend to be there on playoff weekend.
The Dawgs opened up against the host Holmdel Hawks. Our lower weights (72 Lbs and under) sent a message to the Hawks that it is not the size of the Dawg in the fight, but the size of the fight in the Dawg that matters. Harris Reid, Jack Nolan and Tommy Swain came away with their first JSJWL victories. Our Middle Weights (76 Lbs-107 Lbs) pulled away from the Hawks as Jamie Laughinghouse, Coleman Gould and Cole Bisaccia had impressive victories. And then came the big meanies (114 Lbs-180 Lbs) where after a couple of Holmdel forfeits, Vinnie Ottaviano and Tucker Briggs recorded their first victories of the season.
The second match with the BYAA Gators was a nail biter as well, with the Dawgs registering a 50-40 victory. The pups held up well against the strong Gator lower weights. The middle weights made us proud as Jamie Laughinghouse, Mitchell Lauria, Michael Munger and Cole Bisaccia recorded victories. Laughinghouse put a exclamation mark on his day, when in addition to a first period pin in the first match, he recorded a Technical Fall against the Gators. And the big guys stunned the Gators as Marcus Iwama, giving up 15 Lbs, recorded a 3-2 victory and Jordan Bryan, giving up what looked to be at least 40 Lbs at Heavyweight, sent the Dawg faithful into hysteria with a first period pin.
The Dawgs hope to continue their assault on the B Division next saturday (12/11) when we host Brick and Point Pleasant Beach at Nativity Church. We encourage everyone to come by and cheer on the Dawgs. Wrestling starts at 9 AM.
